Category of the fics you'd beta: Action/ Humor/ Drama/ Team/ Crossover/ Fluff/ Slash/ Gen/ Mpreg/ Deathfic/ PWP/ Smut
Category of the fics you won't beta: Het/ Threesome/ BDSM/ Non-con/ If it's really kinky, I probably wouldn't be much help.
Pairing of the fics you'd beta: Primary pairing: John/Rodney, Carson/Rodney. Secondary pairings: Lorne/Parrish, Lorne/Novak. These are my favorites, but I wouldn't object to some others.
Pairing of the fics you won't beta: Primary het pairings involving John or Rodney or any pairings involving Michael or Kolya
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: all
If not pairing oriented, character fics you won't beta: none
Type of beta you'd do: I'm pretty good at grammar and spelling. I'm also really good at catching typos. If I see any obvious plot holes or story inconsistencies, I'll be sure to let you know.
Length of the fics you'd beta: any
I didn't know this comm existed, or I would have offered my services sooner! I really love to proofread. I'm a total dork about it. I think grammar and spelling are very important in writing. I get completely thrown out of stories (even really good ones) when I come across a mistake. I have to stop and correct them for myself before I can move on. lol. I have a pretty easy semester of college for once, so I should have ample time. You can comment to this post or email me directly. I would love to hear from you!

Pairing of the fics you'd beta: All
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: All
Type of beta you'd do: Spelling and grammar. Also, if I feel that something about your story is off I'll tell you. If you made Teyla talk like a teenager from the Bronx, for example, I'd have to mention it. Characters not acting like themselves without substantial reason is something I would suggest you change. If there are gaping plot holes that you could drive a semi truck through, I'll point them out.
Length of the fics you'd beta: Any
I hope I don't come off as a complete jerk. I'm excited about the possibility of beta reading for someone since I've never done it before. I'm not a fanfiction writer, but I am a reader, and I can't stand it when I see things that could be changed in some way to benefit the story as a whole. I have respect for any genre you choose to write in, whichever character you want to focus on, or whichever couple you want to write about. I even tend to enjoy things on the odd side. If you think Radek Zelenka and Steven Caldwell were meant for each other and somehow manage to impregnate one of them, I'm kewl with that.
Finally got around to posting this :P
Category of the fics you'd beta: Action, Humor, Drama, Team, Fluff, Slash, Gen, Mpreg, KidFic, Deathfic, PWP, Smut, Crackfic, TeamFoursomes, some AUs...and probably other categories I can't even think of right now
Category of the fics you won't beta: Het, Threesome, BDSM, Non-con
Pairing of the fics you'd beta (if applicable): John/Rodney most definitely, but secondary pairings like Teyla/Lorne, Teyla/Ronon, Keller/Ronon, Elizabeth/Zelenka, Parrish/Lorne (or pretty much Lorne/Anyone), and many other pairings I can't think of right now are greatly accepted
Pairing of the fics you won't beta (if applicable): Ehh, pairings that have John or Rodney but aren't McShep? Usually not my thing.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: Any character fics are a-okay with me! Rodney's my favorite :)
If not pairing oriented, character fics you won't beta: None...bring them on!
Type of beta you'd do: I do pretty much everything--grammar, spelling, plot, canon checks, etc.
Length of the fics you'd beta: Any size, but the longer the fic the longer it will take me to beta :P (Also, I'd rather not beta WiPs)
Category of the fics you'd beta: Action, Humor, Drama, Team, Slash, Gen, Het, Threesome, PWP, Smut, BDSM (to a point), Angst (I'm a big angst fan), Crack, AU
Category of the fics you won't beta: Fluff (This really only applies to fluff that borders on OOC), Non-con
Pairing of the fics you'd beta (if applicable): I'm open to pretty much anything. Het, slash, OT3, OT4, orgies, etc.
Pairing of the fics you won't beta (if applicable): Eh... again, open to pretty much anything.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: Ronon and John are my favorites, but again, open to anything.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you won't beta: Um... not a Kavanaugh fan?
Type of beta you'd do: I tend mostly toward grammar/spelling/fact checks, but I'll add in characterization and plot notes when I think they're needed.
Length of the fics you'd beta: Anything.
ETA 09/14/08: I'm available for the most part - if you're operating on a deadline, I'm really not the best person to come to. Life has a tendency to get in my way, and so it can take me a while to get through a story. Also, my email doesn't always get the comments, so feel free to comment and directly email me at scifijunkie @ livejournal.com.
Category of the fics you'd beta: Any, except as listed below. I usually prefer reading slash (boys or girls) to het, but I'm okay with it.
Category of the fics you won't beta: Prefer not to read fluff, mpreg, deathfic and non-con. You can always ask, I may say no. Dub-con is usually okay.
Pairing of the fics you'd beta: Most anything. My personal favorites are anyone/Rodney, Teyla/Elizabeth, and threesomes or moresomes (Teyla/Ronon/John/Rodney in particular.)
Pairing of the fics you won't beta: I'd rather not read slash pairings with Carson. I'm just weird like that.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: Any.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you won't beta: None.
Type of beta you'd do: Sounding board, spelling/grammar, dialogue, plot, flow, research help, and sex scenes. Let me know what you want to focus on.
Length of the fics you'd beta: Anything from drabbles up to 10,000 words. Longer may be workable.
Note: I've only seen part-way through Season 4 so I really don't know canon beyond that point, sorry. But I don't mind spoilers.
I write some fanfiction (and other stuff) so I know about writer's block and getting stuck. If you just want to run some ideas past me or send me the first 100 words, that's cool. I enjoy working with someone on a story from start to finish, especially if I like your idea. If it's a longer piece I'll read it carefully and really think about it - and I may recommend rewrites or cuts. As well as crit, I will always tell you what I liked and try to be encouraging. Please tell me what aspects you want help on (or don't want help on.) If you just want a quick once-over for mistakes that's fine, but let me know. I have a thing for word choice - if there's a better word for what I think you're trying to express, I'll suggest it. Drop me a line here (comment notification is on!) or email gryfinn (at) gmail (dot) com.
Category of the fics you'd beta: I'd really love to say I will beta anything, and if I beta for you long enough, I may be able to beta anything. But if I don't know you or your writing, I'll hedge my bets and say I don't feel like I'm knowledgeable or comfortable enough to beta BDSM or non-con. I generally dislike mpreg, but I never say never, so...
Category of the fics you won't beta: BDSM, non-con, probably not mpreg
Pairing of the fics you'd beta (if applicable): I love John/Rodney, I can see Ronon with almost anyone, and I like minor characters. I'm not fond of Kate Heightmeyer, and not a terribly good judge of Elizabeth's voice, but anything else is game.
Pairing of the fics you won't beta (if applicable): I'll give anything a shot.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: Any
If not pairing oriented, character fics you won't beta: None that I can think of.
Type of beta you'd do: I can't seem to keep my mouth shut, so if you are looking for ONLY grammar/spelling, I'm not your person. I read once for overall flavor, scope, plot, characterization, etc. Then I dig in and get my hands dirty. I'm as likely to mock you slightly for overused sex cliches as I am to be overly earnest about not starting sentences with conjunctions. I am a musician, so I tend to talk about rhythm, pace, and flow a lot. I also usually only take a couple of days to beta at the most, so if you need a quickie, I can probably do that.
Length of the fics you'd beta: Anything. The longer it is the more time I'm going to need to get it back to you.
ETA: I'm sorry to say that I'm a little swamped with betas to do at the moment, and some of my long-time authors are getting pushed to the side, which isn't fair to them. For now, I'm afraid I can't take anyone else on. I'll take this note off as soon as I have time to take new betas again.
Category of the fics you'd beta: I'll beta just about anything. I do like slash, both slash and femmeslash, but I will beta het.
Category of the fics you won't beta: Fics that contain elements of squick are borderline, as are crossovers with anything but SG-1, but again, I'll beta just about anything
Pairing of the fics you'd beta (if applicable): McShep is nice, but I'm not too picky.
Pairing of the fics you won't beta (if applicable): *thinks* Nope. Nothing comes to mind.
If not pairing oriented, character fics you'd beta: Anything and everything!
If not pairing oriented, character fics you won't beta: None.
Type of beta you'd do: Characterization isn't really my thing, but I'm happy to mention things when I notice them. Otherwise, I do have a rather firm grasp on the grammar, spelling, etc. of the English language and would be delighted to share my 'expertise.'
Length of the fics you'd beta: Any length is fine, but if it is an extremely long fic, then I would prefer if it were in chapters, or in the size that it will be posted in.
Guten Tag, fan fiction authors and betas of the Stargate Atlantis fandom! I'm Zar, at your beck and call. I just thought I'd introduce myself in hopes of finding an author in need of a beta. I haven't written any fic, myself, but I may try, eventually. Until then, I'm simply here to beta. I'm online quite a lot, so my services are readily available. I have beta'd in the Pirates fandom, as well.
Just a little bit about my personality: I suppose you could liken me to our dear Chief Scientist. I'm often described as too smart for my own good, but I like to respond to that by saying that I'm not overly smart, just intelligent, because intelligence is how well you learn, as opposed to smartness being what you have learned. I snark, and I do tend to drive people away, especially if they're marginally less intelligent than myself, but if you can hold up and defend yourself against the barbs, then you may find yourself benefiting from the massive encyclopedia of random knowledge that I've acquired.
If you think that you can stand my personality, and you're in need of a beta, I encourage you to contact me, either through my journal, AIM, or email. All of them are the same: Zaraakinae, zaraakinae, and zaraakinae(at)gmail(dot)com.
